It also features a small petrol engine in the back that charges the batteries as you go, and have a range of 276 miles. It makes it more efficient than before, with emission 12g/km of CO2 rather than 13g/km.
BMW i3 Engines
BMW i3 has two powertrain options. If you go for the pure electric version, you will get a 125kw (168bhp) electric motor which is connected to the rear axle via a single-speed-fixed-ratio transmissions, with a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. The battery is placed into the rear cabin floor.
Second option for the 32bhp is extending the range to two-cylinder petrol generator. It is placed under the boot on the opposite side of the electric motors. One thing to make sure is that the petrol engine is not here to drive the car directly; it only provides electricity to the batteries or to the motor.
More than a Green Car
Normally the green cars drive at a slow speed as compared to the other variants. The case is a bit different in the new BMW i3. It is more than a green car. With the smart agility and acceleration, it takes just 7.3 seconds to sprint from 0-62 mph. not only this; you will experience exceptional driving pleasure.
