The all new Volkswagen Touran is a seven seater MPV which looks like a seven seater Golf too, which is not a bad thing for a Touran to a Golf sibling. It is actually based on the Golf MK7 platform and there is no denial about the excellence of this platform.
The Golf is a benchmark in the majority of Volkswagen models and it leads the story with its interior quality and unflappable performance dynamics and smooth ride. The refinement should bring just as much appeal to the MPV segment as it offers in the family hatchback models.
Volkswagen Touran Competitors
The Touran is one of those several Volkswagen models which have very strong competition to face from the likes of Ford S-Max, Citroen Grand C4 Picasso and the ever bigger Ford Galaxy and the all new SEAT Alhambra.
It has to compete with them on the bases of price and several other factors.
Value for money
The all new Volkswagen Touran isn’t mainly a cheap prospect and this is a massive factor that will badly affect the sales of the Touran.
It is roughly £3k extra than a grand Picasso C4. It is neither less than a powerful 2.0-litre TDCi 150 Ford S-Max.
Volkswagen Touran engines
The all new Volkswagen Touran 1.6 TDI 110 SE has a 1.6-litre Volkswagen Touran diesel engine that generates 108bhp and it has far less power than a cheaper rival Grand C4 Picasso.
Generally, this 1.6-litre engine is a bit disappointment, though because it feels sluggish, but works quite hard when in the sixth gear. It has a six speed gearbox.
Should I buy one?
Sure, why not? If you are one of Volkswagen enthusiasts, the Touran is the best option in its class but if you love to drive in an extra engaging mode then the S-Max will be the choice.
