Volkswagen unveils a new hulk engine to generate hulk power
Volkswagen has unveiled a new 6-litre W12 TSI engine with twin turbo capable of producing 608 horsepower. Volkswagen has built some of the most dominating engines in the automobile world and there is no doubt that the W-Series is most attractive and offers massive power outputs. It was previously used in Bentley in its most powerful form.
Volkswagen has unveiled another version of the most dominating W-Series. This time it is the W12, wearing the TSI badge and complies with the most modern carbon emission standards. It is designed to offer class leading fuel economy.
W12 with TSI Badge?
If reports are true, the W12 has never come with a TSI badge before. Previously, Audi A8 L was using the W12 engine but it was a naturally aspirated unit. On the other hand, Bentley does not use German terminology, but Volkswagen has decided to get its hands dirty to make a next generation of very special W12 engines.
New Engine specifications
The new W12 engine is a 6.0-litre monster, wearing the TSI tag for the first time. With the APS coating on the cylinder bores, this hulk is capable of generating 608 horsepower.
Twin scroll biturbo charging system helps the W12 to return a maximum torque of 665 lb-ft from just 1500 rpm to 4500 rpm. The model to be blessed with this power machine will shove from zero to 62 miles per hour in just under four seconds.
Cleaner and Economical Engine
It is the most economical twelve cylinder engine developed for the luxury division. It complies with the NEDC standards of carbon emissions and emits just under 250g/km.
If compared with the engine used in the BMW 760i, the new W12 is cleaner by 49g/km, however it emits 18g/km less carbon than the engine in Mercedes S60 LWB.
