It was a bright day and a witness was passing the seven-way Bank Junction in the City of London, when suddenly, he heard a horrific struck around him. It was a female cyclist, struck by a tipping truck.

He described hearing a sound of cycle crunching and bones shattering, followed by bystanders’ screams. The tipping truck stopped instantly and the driver never tried to flee the scene.

Police came but they did not arrest the driver. The lady cyclist was crushed and pronounced dead at the scene. She was the eighth to die on the bloody streets of London.

Campaigners are calling for a ban on all lorries and private cars from crowded inner London streets as the lady became the eighth victim of these vehicles in this year. She was only 26-year-old at the time and crushed by a lorry at Bank Junction in the city of London during rush hours.

Charlie Lloyd from the London Cycling Campaign LCC, has demanded for a ban and asked to allow the public transport only on historic and busy London Streets.

Other cyclists who died in road accidents this year were, a 26-year-oldwomen follows by the death of a 50 years old man crashed with a car in North West London. On May 29, physiotherapist Esther Hartsilver, 32, got seriously injured in the similar accident near King’s College Hospital where she worked.

Moira Gemmill, 55, was killed in a collision with tipper truck again on April 9, in Westminster. However on February 19, a French-born mother of two was crushed by a tipper truck when she was riding the cycle hire Boris bike in Victoria.

A music producer 34, was collided with a truck on February 2 four days later, an Italian-born fashion buyer was killed in a cycle-lorry accident in Homerton, only two days short of her 27th birthday.

The London Cycle Campaign is really an effort to protect the cyclists on the streets of London. The only question is, will government authorities give a good response to the demands of this campaign?
