GM is thinking of giving a new name to Chevrolet Bolt
Chevrolet bolt is about to enter into the production next year, as it was showed in a concept form. General Motors has decided to change its nameplate, because “Some people think it’s a confusing name.” says Alan Batey, GMs North American president.
Actually, the Bolt nameplate has generated some extra thrill since the model was introduced as a concept at the Detroit Motor Show in January. It is very easy to misunderstand the word “Bolt” as Volt which is the next electric vehicle from GM. About the Bolt, any powertrain options have not been released yet.
According to local press sources, GM is only looking to change the nameplate for Bolt. Officials said, “People are having some fun with it. It is generating awareness, which is good. It’s so conversational,”
The DNA however, will remain the same. This small electric car will give the range of more than 200 miles on a single charging cycle. It will definitely use the same new platform that will also underpin the Chevrolet Sonic.
The Bolt offers a great aerodynamic body made of lightweight materials like aluminium and magnesium along with a massive amount of carbon fibre. Bolt will be rolled out in 2017 across the USA with prices starting from $30,000 and $35,000.
Do you think that GM should ditch or keep the Bolt as nameplate? Leave your feedback in the comments.
