Infiniti QX30 is gearing up to take on premium compact crossover BMW X1, unveiling at Geneva Motor Show next month
Infiniti is hoping to gather interest at Geneva Motor Show this year by revealing the new small crossover to take on the German automaker BMW. New QX30 is inspired by the Q30 hatchback concept seen in 2013. The QX30 concept has been teased with an elevated body style and an SUV-like appearance.
The previous Q30 concept is going into production at the end of 2015, but it is just waiting for expansion work continue at Nissan Sunderland production facility to accommodate the production process. According to the Nissan’s spokesman on QX30, the small crossover will then be built alongside the Q30 and will possibly arrive in mid-2016.
Infiniti said on the QX30 that it will be a model that offer some extra than just the practicality and conformity in the entire small crossover segment. The QX30 is interpreted as a car ditching the space for pace and weight reduction. It has a Coupe-alike profile with relatively high driving position to make the crossover a car fit for home and city users.
A spy shot has already been leaked during the tests and it is confirmed that the Infiniti Q30 will be built on Mercedes-Benz platform MFA, that has been used to develop the A-Class and GLA models of Mercedes-Benz. The Infiniti is using the 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engines, but we expect larger units to be available soon. Infiniti is also looking forward to develop a range of faster models within the existing Infiniti range of fast models which definitely includes a hot Q30 and QX30. These two models will rival the Audi S3, RS and Q3 respectively.
