Koenigsegg One:1 Mega car is a powerhouse that reaches 0-300-0 km/h in just 17.95 seconds and only six examples will be made
The Koenigsegg One:1 Mega car has smashed the world speed record at the second attempt. The new record has been made by accelerating from 0-300-0 in just 17.95 seconds. The company is confident of going even faster.
What time did it break and by what?
Back in September 2011, Koenigsegg first set the Guinness World Record time in the Koenigsegg Agera R for the 0-300-0 km/h run in just 21.19 seconds. Since then, this time was considered to be an unbeatable time. But now with Koenigsegg One:1, they managed to shave off a full 3.24 seconds from that record.
This record-beating run was conducted at the Koenigsegg test track in Angelholm, Sweden, and one of a series of runs conducted in a practice session.
Is this the best Koenigsegg can come up with?
No, there is a series of lap runs that were conducted during a four hour session and if faster individual stages like 0-100 and 100-200 are considered together, then theoretically it can be said that 0-300-0 km/h time would be 17.49 seconds.
The firm says they still have room for improvement in the future runs. One more thing that should be considered in this record is that this test car is 50kg heavier than customer cars, and if the roll cage and other safety features are removed, the time can be improved.
When this test was conducted and who drove it?
This session of multiple runs was conducted on Monday, June 8, 2015, and the time selected was 6 pm to 10 pm. Koenigsegg called in their trusted factory test driver, Robert Serwanski to test run this megacar. Koenigsegg chose their test track to be the 1.5km straight runway surface. It did not have any gradient along the length of the track.
Koenigsegg One:1 is world’s first Megacar with Megawatt of power. To support the 1 Megawatt of power, it also has roof air scoop and large air vents for improved cooling. It boasts an upgraded rear triplex suspension with carbon bevel springs, ride height, active shock absorbers and upgraded ground-breaking Koenigsegg Aircore carbon fibre wheels.
