The world debut will be at the Detroit motor show in March
What is it?
Various spy shots and a sustained teaser campaign has been projecting the new W213 E-Class as the hot new sensation from German automaker Mercedes-Benz. Recently the net has been flooded with official shots of the vehicle which is going to make it global debut at the Detroit Motor Show on January 11.
The shots clearly show that the new E-Class bears the resemblance to the C- and S-Class saloons. This series will be powered by Mercedes-Benz diesel engine as well as the petrol.
What are the power outputs offered?
This new series is going to be so much fun as it is going to use not one, two or three but eight engine variants and all of them will be matched with Merc’s 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic gearbox. In the beginning of its European launch, company has decided to offer only two new four-cylinder engines.
The E 200 is going to use 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine with two power outputs, a 134kW and 180kW. The E 220d will be using same 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine which produces 134kW and consumes 3.9L/100km.
The new Mercedes-AMG E 63 will be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 twin turbo engine, which is the revised version from AMG and it will be available in Standard and S states of tune.
What enhancements does it receive?
The new E-Class is equipped with more hi-tech gadgetries and technology than the S-Class, including the new autonomous driving aids which features Merc’s new Drive Pilot system, allowing hands-free driving experience on expressways at up to 210km/h for extended periods. It will be utilising cameras detecting roadside infrastructure and road markings, radar cruise control and satellite-navigation.
Then there is the revolutionary single configurable screen including two huge 12.3-inch displays with 1920×720-pixel resolution, touch-sensitive steering wheel-mounted scrollers, Linguatronic voice control system, Speed Limit Pilot, improved Active Lane Keeping Assist, Mulitbeam LED headlamps, Pre Safe collision preparation system, and Active Blind Spot Assist system.
With the help of Near Field Communication (NFC) you can use your smartphone as a car key, this phone technology will be used to avoid potential hazards on the road by communicating with other cars and last but not least, the Self-parking via smartphone app.
