Nissan Leaf glow-in-the-dark technology with luminous paint upgrades makes Nissan the first ever automaker utilising UV absorbing glowing paints
It is the first time ever any automaker has applied the UV-absorbing paint finish to its production models and credit goes to Nissan, who will be the first automaker to use the spooky glowing paint on their cars. Nissan Leaf electric vehicle will be the first ever model to get the benefits of this paint.
This glowing paint finish is generally known as the STARPATH paint, first created by the inventor Hamish Scott. This paint coating absorbs the energy from sunlight all day long and then emits the significant amount of light for more than eight hours in the night.
The formula used by Scott was a secret because it was made of organic matters and an earth product called Strontium Aluminate. One of the Nissan officials stated that if the bold paint is used on a car body then it will last for almost 25 years.
It is still to be seen that whether this paint will be available as standard on all Leafs or the company will offer it as an option on the electric vehicles.
