For the Volvo, the all new XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid is a technological innovation and the way it drives, simply awesome. It charges from the mains like the majority of plug-in hybrids but unlike the others, it is arguably elegant and superbly refined choice.
It is a comfortable and refined luxury SUV that if runs on a petrol engine, it plunges the economy figures but if you opt for a D5 diesel engine, it is even more efficient than ever before.
New offerings
Volvo is well known for its class leading safety features and it’s also making rigorous efforts to demonstrate its eco-friendly credentials to introduce efficient diesel engines across its range of models. They have introduced in the plug-in hybrid models as well where for the first time, we saw diesel powered V60 plug-in hybrid and now here it comes the XC90 T8 twin engine.
How a Technological showcase?
The new XC90 T8 is a technological showcase, it acquires the technology from V60 and then further refined to make it an elegant SUV.
It is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged Volvo engine which generates a 320bhp of power from petrol. It is joined by an electric motor of 87bhp.
Power Delivery
The combined power output of the engine and the motor is rated at 376bhp rather than 407bhp. The extra power has been subjected to the energy losses in the drivetrain. A rotary selector on the central console allow the drivers to select you the energy from the petrol-electric setup.
On the Road
The all new SUV has an eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive system. It takes only 5.3 seconds to get the pace of 62 miles per hour.
It has a top speed of 140 miles per hour with an outclass economy of 135 miles per gallon. It is an environment-friendly vehicle with a carbon emission of 49g/km.
