Speeding motorists will be in trouble
If you think that the famous Gatso technology is the only speed checking technology, you must think again. The motoring authorities now have countless technologies to catch speeding motorists. Should Michelin ever be stuck for an idea for its next I-Spy series?
Motoring authorities use almost 20 types of technologies including static and mobile cameras. Highways Agency is introducing the digital enforcement camera system to further tighten the security on the motorways. Currently, so called smart camera system is working at the M25, between the junctions five and six. However the A1(M) and the M11 also uses the same technology.
Highways authority has plans to install many more in the next two years. The advantages of the Hadecs 3 camera system are very broad as it can scan up to five lanes at the same time. The Hadecs 2 scan system will be installed everywhere in the country. This system monitors only one lane and must be mounted on the overhead gantry.
Like the Hadecs 2 system, Hadecs system 3 will be painted in grey, to give the system a stealth look. New technology uses a radar to monitor the variable speed limits. It alters the camera operating system according to the limits.
This system will be permanently active even when the variable speed limit returns to 70mph. The new Hadecs 3 security system went operational on the Clacket Lane services on the M25 from 22nd October last year. The Kent Police reported that they had captured 1861 speeding motorists by February.
