Introduction
The vauxhall Insignia is a big, large and comfortable family hatchback car that has been around for a long while now. Its new model with delicate look undercuts its rivals like the Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Superb, Ford Mondeo and Peugeot 508. In real the new Insignia is a successor to the Vectra in strength. However the vauxhall Insignia is far more sophisticated than the car it replaces so not only is the styling more refined, the interior fit and finish is at its best.
Engine range
There is a good range of engines available in both fuel types, so there should be something to suit all needs and budgets. The range kicks off with an entry level 1.8 litre petrol unit, a turbo charged good engine but not the best one because of its sluggish acceleration being in a big car like Insignia and its poor fuel economy.
If you do want a petrol Insignia, aim for the smooth 1.4-litre turbo charged engine which is powerful enough for brisk acceleration, 138 bhp power output with a high rate of torque, flexibility and performance. The range- topping model is the rapid 2.8 litre V6 petrol engine in Insignia VXR super sport, with its mighty 320bhp takes the vehicle at top speed 168m/h from 0-62 m/h with in just 5.6 seconds.
Diesel engines
The Insignia has not produced a variety of diesel engines for its clientage. The 2.0 litre CTDi diesel engine has been at the top for many years with its good fuel average reaching up to 60m/g and takes the grand saloon from 0-62 m/h within 9.4 seconds. There is also availability of 1.6 litre whisper diesel engine with a decent performance.
Interior and exterior
The Insignia took over from Vauxhall’s Vectra smooth lines with plane curves gets a healthier look of a saloon as compare its predecessor’s sharp lines . Interior is well designed and there is a tight back because of curvy look yet it is comfortable and spacious. The large touch screen also helps to give the interior a classy look.
All the digital displays are clear to read. It is easy to get comfortable behind the wheel of new Insignia. The steering wheel could be adjust as accordingly to the height of the driver .even when we compare the interior of new Insignia to some of its up market rivals, we find its interior impressively well put together.
Healthy space
The Insignia is a log saloon car with enough space and leg room, to sit in the back seats for reasonably long journey, for adults. However its sweeping roofline means that taller rear seat passengers may find their heads brushing the roof lining. The Insignia ‘s large boot opening also means that loading large item is straightforward but the floor area is a usefully squarer shape than in some of its rivals.
Handling
The new Insignia‘s suspensions and platform is more significant than any other vauxhall older model had. The combination of Macpherson struts up front and four –link arrangement at the rear follows the same basic layout as the vectra. Each suspension component helps to adjust the vehicle on any road drive.
