Volkswagen 1.5-litre petrol and TDI diesel engines will replace existing defective engines in the Volkswagen model line-up
Volkswagen to introduce a new line-up of engines to make its image better in the automotive market. Volkswagen is facing a big dent in the repute of the automaker since the diesel gate arise. Volkswagen alleged for cheating its customers across the globe with defeat devices to cheat the real life carbon emissions stats.
Now Volkswagen has decided to come up with all new four cylinder petrol and diesel engines to offer some relief to its customers.
What is it?
Volkswagen is replacing the existing 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre engines with their newly built 1.5-litre Volkswagen engines. These new engines will be introduced across the range of Volkswagen companies.
Will new engines be cleaner?
The new engines will be more efficient and are designed to comply with stricter emissions regulations as guided by the regulatory authorities, and they are due to be introduced somewhere in 2020.
Which models will get benefit of new engines?
The all-new 1.5-litre engines will be powered by turbochargers and available in both fuel variations including petrol and diesel. These engines will replace the 1.4-litre TSI in some of the Skoda Octavia trims and Volkswagen Golf models. It is expected that the new engine will make its first appearance in the MK7 Volkswagen Golf, which is due in this year.
Diesel engines will replace the most badly famed 1.6-litre diesel engines but almost a year after the introduction of petrol engines. Face lifted Audi A3 will be the first ever model to be fitted with the new 1.5-litre engine. It is unlikely to be introduced in the MK7 according to some reports but it is more likely to be introduced in the MK8 models of Volkswagen Golf.
What VW says about the new engines?
Volkswagen officials says that although the engines are new but their dimensions are very similar to the current engines and they can easily fit in any of the cars produced by Volkswagen and its subsidiaries.
